70 Million Podcast

About the Project

70 Million is an open-source, narrative journalism podcast from Lantigua Williams & Co. with a public service focus on jurisdictions and communities in the United States that are harnessing the power of local efforts to create change in criminal justice and jail reform. The first season premiered in Fall 2018 and highlights innovations that have resulted in tangible changes at local jails in 9 US cities. Episodes chronicle border security and diversion, bail, specialty courts, public defenders, foster care, reparations, and more. Season 2 premieres July 15th, 2019 and goes deeper into, and investigates new stories surrounding, jail reform through the lens of local advocacy. Each 30 minute episode is reported by an independent producer with ties to the community they’re reporting from, and we are made possible by a grant from the Safety and Justice Challenge at the MacArthur Foundation.
