Entry Requirements

Entries for the 2024 Online Journalism Awards will be accepted between April 4 and May16 via ONA’s submission portal.

We encourage you to review rules and eligibility in full before starting an entry. To help you prepare your entries, we’ve outlined the information required for each step of the process. The entry form consists of five sections.

Section 1: Contact Information

This basic contact information allows us to follow-up with questions about your entry, if needed. We also ask about your preferences for notifications and public recognition, should your entry be selected as a finalist. All fields are required unless otherwise noted.

  • Name
  • Email
  • Submitting Organization
  • Mailing Address
  • Phone Number

Section 2: Entry Information

In this section, provide information about your entry as it relates to specific category requirements. All fields are required. Note: This section is one of the more time-consuming aspects of submitting to the OJAs, so we recommend getting an early start gathering notes about each project.

  • Select the category for which you’re submitting your work
  • Title of your entry
  • Description of your work (500 words or less)
  • Explanation of the size category you entered (if applicable to your selected category)
  • Information about the overall strategy and impact of your submission (500 words or less)

Section 3: Supporting Materials

In this section, add the required materials for your entry. All fields are required unless otherwise noted.

  • URLs and/or attachments related to the work being submitted
  • Publication Date (work must be published between May 26, 2023 and April 30, 2024 to be eligible for the 2024 awards)
  • Login credentials for materials behind a paywall (if applicable)

Section 4: Recognition Preferences

Information in this section will be used if your entry is selected as a finalist or winner for the OJAs. All fields are required unless otherwise noted.

  • Twitter/X handle(s) for those involved in the submission
  • Entry images (3-5 images you’d like featured on a finalist page)

Section 5: Certification of Entry Information

In this final section, you will certify that all of the information and materials submitted is accurate and contains no false information. You also agree that ONA can use your submitted information on official ONA websites and channels to showcase finalists and winners. Note: information submitted to the OJAs remains the intellectual property of your organization.

You may save your entry at any point in the process and return to it to add and/or edit information before the deadline. However, we highly encourage you to collect as much of the required information as possible prior to starting your entry to ensure you have everything submitted by the deadline, 11:59 p.m. EDT (3:59 a.m. UTC) on May 16.
