About the Project

The Los Angeles Times’ suite of 20 or so newsletters stands above our competition. Even as the newsroom has shrunk, our newsletter program has grown in ambition and success. We know the direct relationship we cultivate with readers via email is key to our survival and have made an effort to put some of our most seasoned reporters in front of our biggest audiences via email.

Our newsletter portfolio is premised on the idea that voice and thoughtful relationships between writers and our readers are the future. We focus on written-through, personality-driven emails and supplement them with story digests. Our mission is to build habit, drive subscriptions, retain subscribers and, most importantly, inform readers. Our newsletters drive the conversation across California and the West.
