The Mayweather vs. Pacquiao Fight

About the Project

The Los Angeles Times’ digital coverage for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight broke traffic records for the sports department. The coverage generated more page views and unique viewers than any other event in Los Angeles Times sports history and was spread on more platforms than every before. The coverage included round-by-round updates, live blogs, slideshows, multiple stories and analysis and a Flipboard collection that highlighted the entire breadth of Los Angeles Times coverage.

On social media, our onsite reporting team provided updates and images from the event that took our readers right to the action in Las Vegas.

The Times sent two reporters, a columnist and two photographers to the fight and their multiple contributions lead to 7 million page views and 2 million unique users on Saturday, May 2, the day of the fight.
