LOS ANGELES, CA - DECEMBER 18, 2022: Inside her Grandmothers cold Culver City garage, Sarah Fay, 28, settles into bed with her pet dogs. She is alone tonight because her Mother, who has lived in the garage for 13 years, is in hospital with Covid. Sarah is grieving the death of her “Grandpa” and worried about her Mother who is in hospital with Covid. Sarah’s housing problem is that she can’t find a place she can afford with a landlord that will take her even though she has a full-time job. She earns nearly $4K per month, but after years living between her car, at hotels, her mother’s place, and Grandmothers garage she doesn’t seem to be the ideal tenant to landlords and lives a life of housing insecurity at 28 years old.
