About the Project

Point of No Return – Season 2 is an independent, character-driven documentary series that explores some of the most urgent and divisive social and political realities of our time—through intimate, immersive storytelling. The title and concept refer to those individuals, communities, or moments in history that have crossed a threshold from which there is no turning back.

Shot and directed by Emmy-winning journalist and filmmaker Raül Gallego Abellán, each 30-minute episode takes viewers into the heart of global fault lines: from Israel Palestine conflict, to the crisis of gang violence in Sweden, to U.S. militias preparing for civil conflict.

Produced by TV3/3Cat (Catalonia’s public broadcaster), Season 2 marks the first time the series was created entirely in English, with the goal of reaching international audiences. With modest resources, a one-person core team collaborates with trusted local journalists and producers on the ground, enabling access and intimacy that larger crews often cannot achieve.

What makes Point of No Return stand out is its hybrid format: combining cinematic documentary filmmaking with the urgency, ethics, and truth-seeking nature of journalism. The stories are not narrated or explained—they unfold as lived experiences. The camera stays close to the protagonists, creating a vérité-style intimacy that allows viewers to experience events through the eyes of those directly affected. Each episode is structured as a personal and emotional journey, designed to challenge assumptions and provoke reflection.
