Jailed during the 2021 coup in Myanmar, American journalist Danny Fenster spent the six months waiting for release, a political prisoner who was mostly bored. To pass the time, he discovered meditation, and thankfully, his girlfriend Julianna was able to smuggle in audio files by mail—meaning he could hear her voice, and podcast episodes she’d saved to an SD card. In this narrative comic, in collaboration with cartoonist Amy Kurzweil, illustrates Fenster’s journey home from Burmese incarceration back to his partner in this story about longing, loneliness, and love.
