This interactive story pairs video, photo and archival photographs through a journey of research and discovery. The build and design take reader through a traditional article that is delicately decorated with pop-outs to learn more, see more and delve into the content deeper. Each section is chapterized with a paired photo and video to bring the reader into the scene. And an interactive map highlights the impact carbon storage and the research base without being overly complicated.
The strategy was to take a visually rich and information dense story and give the reader something to chew on and enjoy throughout. Each section has thought-through breakout content and interactive animated elements to capture intrigue, allow exploration and to encourage discovery.
